THe key to beating him is to make your deck perfect. You want some of the cards you get from the bosses you beat. Also only include 8,9 and 0 cards. Except for the cards with attack of A or B. You want a lot of health cards, and quick reloads. Also rarely if ever do sleights with your keyblades. I beat him just a couple days ago. Also one more thing, always stay a good distance away from him and have a 0 card handy to kill his combos.

Yeah, well, I beat him on my 3rd or 4th try without ever having to change my deck. I guess this makes sense, though, because I've had this game for over a year and am so used to the card system.

Wait, how are you people going at riku? Are you all just using one keyblade card at a time on him? If that's the case, then I have some advice for you.
2/3 of my decks are specially made out to be full-sleight battles. This means that I pretty much only use the L and R buttons to fight my battles. Sleights (both magic and attack) make battles with heartless easy and fun!
If you'd like to try this out, then I suggest going to the status screen after pressing start, and looking at all sleights you probably left alone all throughout the game. Then, customize your deck including as many of the best sleights you can find.
I beat Riku pretty easily using this method. Here's a list of powerful sleights you should include:
Mega flare (mushu, fire, fire) Omnilash (3 cloud cards) Holy (Mega-Ether, Megalixir, any item card) 3 level spells such as blizzaga, thundaga, curaga etc. (three of the same spell card) Blitz (three keyblade cards of different types with #'s totalling up to 10-15)
Now I'm not saying that this method will be successful in ALL boss battles, but it surprisingly worked with me on the fourth Riku. And I'm sorry if it doesn't work with you. I tried my best.
