I've been playing this game for a while and not actually gotten stuck until now. My computer shut off when I was fighting talon and the other beasts, and now when I go back to fight him I can't even touch him. It won't let me use the ballista to do anything, so I don't know what to do. I really don't want to start over because obviously that would just be a pain in the ass. So I was just hoping somebody could give me an idea on what to do.

be more specific about your location such as the name of the map and the quest you are doing. i might have passed that point but don`t remember any boss of this level

If you stand by the ballista the dragon will consume it in flames and it will be too hot to use. So you have to keep moving around so the dragon will breathe fire on something besides the ballista.

the dragon won't even attack me now, it just sits on the side and I can't use the ballista.

if you look carefully, there are two cogs (wheels) next to the ballista wich rotates it left or right
the talon will not sit on a position wich the ballista cannot attack. so use those to rotate the ballista to the desired direction
also during the battle the talon attacked me while i was next to the ballista ( long live invincibility spell) and it did not become unusable

Have you tried talking to the general peson to restart quest? try it.

My second time through, I ran from the fight with Talon. I was out of potions and was getting my ass handed to me.

After I came back from the shop, Talon was gone. I wasn't able to do anything untill I completly shut down the game , to the desktop, and restarted.

I needed to talk to the lady who tells you to get that dragon before he was back. I also ran into the red hot balista that wouldn't fire.
