Every time I use the console the game freezes up and I have to use "quit" in the console to get out. What's happening and how can I fix it?

Hi, the way that works for me is to type chareditor... don't remember if that is written correctly, but the command to pull up the character sheet "unlocks" the game again.

hehe, i like to reply late :P simpy activate the console from the meny, close the console. Now you are free to use it "in-game"
