To those that crash with the latest instructions, I found a work around that works every time for me, and doesn't crash often.
Here's how I did it. I have Aurora OPEN, with the HD2 trainer PREPARED and the helldivers bypass launcher in the bin folder ready to be run.
I launch from steam and wait for the gameguard screen to disappear, and as soon as the black screen appears that is HD2 just starting up. You run the bypass exe, wait for the beeps and then press F1 to activate right away, if it fails try again while on the black screen.
This seems to work. Here's to hoping we don't get banned :-)🍷

Using this method, I DID get it to work. Took about 10 tries to get the timing though, Will report back and edit this post if I can make it through a match with minimal cheats.
Edit: Worked, extracted with extra resources for personal order successfully, instawin worked fine in eliminate along with all the basic cheats. So yeah, DO NOT give up on the timing of everything, try try again my dudes, don't give up after just 5 tries, seriously finicky right now. If you can't get it to work, don't worry about it, come back later after another update and play any of the other Thousands of games trained. 💛 Hope this helps people in my spot~

In this case you have to remember what you had .. like 30, you collect 20 so you should have 50.
Just by using the trainer even if you dont cheat at all, you can see many zeros, level 0, exp 0, samples 0 .. but in the end you get the reward. This was case even 6 months ago. Thats the price for cheating
So it should be fine .. it was fine for me since the dawn of time.
Also confirming that the "base instruction" no longer works.
Game must be started with aurora and "game found" and starting .exe before game loading starts.
thats just it, im not. when i get back to the ship im not getting ANY samples added. nor am i getting metals. im going to go give it another test run to make sure, but something is borked and i dont know what.
I've messed around with it to find a simpler way, the one that works the most for me is below:
Make sure to have Aurora OPEN and have HD2 trainer PREPARED
Have the Helldivers bypass Helldivers2Launcher.exe in the bin folder ready to be run.
Launch from steam and as soon as the gameguard splash screen disappears, run Helldivers2Launcher.exe
Wait for the black screen of HD2 starting, and press F1 to activate the trainer. Be patient as the trainer may take a few seconds to successfully activate (It may even go not responding, be be patient it will come around and activate)
I would just like to add that this one works far more successfully than following the usual setups. On average, I've played at least two full 40-minute games before CTD. 😇
