After you installed it you need to open the steam library right click on your game, choose properties and then select the steamdeck tool as compatibility tool for this game. Then launch the game through Steam.
I did this and am having the same problem happen
nether the game or AURORA STEAMDECK TOOL will start only saying both are idle or stopped
Go to desktop mode then click on the Aurora Steam Deck icon thats on the desktop screen. Go to the specific game and select a proton version. It could be defaulting to running with hotfix or proton experimental which is causing your games and aurora not to open.
I tried this and couldn't do it because the drop down menu would not drop down to let me select any proton version

Make sure you are running the latest aurora app as there was an old aurora version that didnt drop down. if you need proton versions use protonupqt over in the discovery store. Also, enable Developer mode in your steam deck settings.
