Not really no. If you having an error with normal use in SOLO game then you should report it.

Even if there is, the question is if changing a maximum persists. From my experience on most games, it doesn't. After a game restart the effect is lost. That's because maximum is either a fix/hardcoded value or based/calculated on something else, like character level.
Thanks 0x, appreciate the response. Thought that might be the case, just a shame it means I have to throw away the character I made at the start - seems a weird design decision.
