The game has been crashing to desktop for me. This is not the fault of the trainer as the game starts, runs for about 10 seconds and you can run around on the ship, then poof CTD wether the trainer is running or not. It's been happening for the last few weeks, and as I said it happens wether Aurora is running or not. I've uninstalled and reinstalled clean, uninstalled Aurora completely including all registry references, done validation checks on the gamefiles, rebooted etc etc

Has anyone else been seeing this problem with the game? I'm running a I9-13900KS, Strix 4090 not overclocked, 32Gb of DDR5 5600 Asus Maximus Extreme MB.

I've had a similar problem with Occupy Mars same exact issue... Game starts and then almost immediately immediately crashes to desktop... So frustrating...

Just giving general advice based on my past general experience with gaming. Given that you experience the same thing with other games, it's likely the fault of your system and not the game. First thing you should do is go to event viewer and see what the related error messages are and then look up said error(s). They tend to be generic but it should help you narrow down your troubleshooting a little.

    Other than that,

    1)Update gpu drivers

2)Try setting ram to JEDEC (ie no xmp/expo) spec and run the game(s).

3)Update mobo bios and set your CPU to "intel baseline profile". Depending on your mobo brand, it might be called something else. There has been some talk recently regarding mobo manufacturers overclocking intel CPUs (most notably the I9 range like yours) to the point of instability. It crashed games so much that it got nvidia investigating and eventually pointing fingers at intel. Look it up and see if you wish to set it.

    Here's an article on it:

    www.techspot.com/news/102611-nvidia-advises-crash-prone-cpu-owners-look-intel.html

4)Antivirus software. Try disabling and then playing

5)PSU issue. Very unlikely since it usually results in a BSOD, but I thought I would mention it as a "try if all else fails" thing

6)RGB software. Very unlikely as well but stranger things have happened with it.

7)Failing ssd/hdd. I don't think that is your issue but if you have tried everything else, worth taking a look as well. Scan your SSD/HDD for bad blocks/sectors.

How's the heat looking? Run HWINFO to monitor how your pc acts when running a game. If it jumps to a very high temp (eg. 100) within a few seconds, then it might be due to your cpu cooler (AIO I assume) not working properly, either poor contact or it is spoilt.

Hi all, thank you for all the suggestions!

Actually, I didn't mention it in the original post, but i did try ALL and more of what you suggested, not only manually setting the RAM speed from 5600 to 4800, but also lowering the CPU and GPU speeds selectively by up to 50% to see if it was a power draw issue, and I even loaded older versions of NVidia drivers in case it was related to that. I'm running a Corsair AX 1600i, so I don't think is a power draw issue, at least I hope not, and all my temps are much lower than average (Full reservoir water cooling)

I know that anything could happen, but the reason that I'm thinking it might be some kind of specific call, or setting, or configuration the software is requesting that might be leading to an error is that the only two programs that cause this exact problem, are this one, and Occupy Mars. Nothing else is causing a problem including programs that with my settings draw even more power than Helldivers (Red Dead Redemption II, MSFS 2020, Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 4, Starfield, Manor Lords, Control, Baldur's Gate, Witcher III, X4 Foundations, GTA V, Dying Light (all versions) Assassin's Creed (all versions) and on and on and on... Only the two titles fail in literally the exact same way

I would think that if it was a physical, or configuration fault with my PC, it would happen a lot more often and with more than the two specific titles. (I'm currently communicating the with DEVS (Pyramid Games) of Occupy Mars as well, and they are investigating it perhaps being something that the Unity Graphics Engine doesn't like about my specific setup, or specific components, or how said components play with each other.

I'm going to check in on discord for HD2 and see what information is there about the problem with PC that they recognize and hope it's something a later update will address. If it does then I will communicate with Pyramid Games as well as that might aid them in resolving the trouble my system has with their software as well

No prob, I hope you eventually resove it.

Have you checked out the event viewer errors for those crashes by the way? It should provide you with some clue.

Since you brought up unity engine, it reminded me of a quirk regarding it. It sometimes drives FPS to ridiculously high levels if the dev does not set a limit for it, especially at main menus. That could cause crashes. Maybe try enforcing a low limit (eg 60 fps) either through the game settings (if available) or through the nvidia control panel profiles for the respective games. Vsync can be unreliable.

Is there an updated exe file to replace with this newer version? Everytime I try to launch now since the 6/12 update it just crashes the game and I get the gameguard error attached. Tried clearing trainer settings, running as admin, rebooting, etc... The game itself runs fine using the real exe, it is only when attempting to use the supplied exe launcher that i get this.

Still works well for me. i get alot of 153 errors. just keep trying.

Click on launcher.exe wait 1 sec before spamming activate trainer. just keep doing it till you see the black loading screen which means its all good. you should hear " trainer activated " after awhile.

    Agreed, has the same problem

Sometimes the game works okay, but random crashes might occur often
