i think this thread is very confused about what T1 essence is. there seem to be a few reply's that make me think they mean essence dust and not T1 essence.
i can dupe items and then break them down for essence dust (this is what paper breaks down into) .
then there is T1 Essence This as far as i have gotten can not be gotten from breaking down anything (at least not for me yet ) and i have been unable to dupe T1 essence by dropping it in any form i can change the number but it won't drop or keeps the value in anyway but maybe i did something wrong.

You are right T1 eseence can not be duped or dropped once you change the numbers and I to believe people have got confused between essence dust and T1 essence. T1 essence is needed to upgrade items to uncommon and can only be given from doing Fae towers or killings things on a T1 realm or by breaking down uncommon items.
You maybe able to rinse and repeat fae towers, by using new cards to open new portal to the same T1 lands.

This is what I've been doing.
Duplicate the items to make your own portals, I have 9 of them, 1 I keep for the main story, the others are for essence farming because the damn fae towers don't reset.
I believe the T1/T2 essence are there for forced grinding like most survival games, no real content, forced to repeat the same scrounging low quantity item to proceed.
Don't get me wrong I have been enjoying the game, but the 1-2 minute wait as it connects to a server each time you go through a portal is driving me completely nuts.
not sure what issue your having, ive duper basic, t1 and t2 essence easily, i have set them all to 1mil, dropped them, picked them up again, and it works fine
I honestly don't believe you, I know for certain T1 essence cannot be dropped once editted.
To prove me wrong I suggest you explain how you did it..thanks
