    Hi

I managed to correctly install the steam deck version of Aurora

I have selected to run aurora in the game properties

I have set the correct proton to use for said game in the Aurora settings

I load the game in windowed mode

Aurora and the game start ok but the Aurora launcher just freezes on the home page of the launcher and doesn't let me select any of the options

And once I minimise the Aurora launcher it just goes black

I have previously run Aurora fine on my deck so I don't know why it's not working after a fresh install and a fresh factory reset of my deck

I have reinstalled aurora because I factory reset my deck

Cannot understand why it keeps freezing at the home screen of the launcher

    Please advise when possible

    Regards Lloyd

    Hi ljhr85

When you restore Steam Deck you lost the proton versions your previous system settings. So I will start with first enabling Developer Mode on the Steam Deck settings. Next I would use Protonup-QT and download different proton versions and try those. Lastly, run it on desktop.

First off, great work. Love seeing more linux stuff even if it's just for the steam deck.

Second, I know there is no official support for linux desktops but I did want to ask if anyone in the community has tried it anyway. I'm thinking of trying and tinkering knowing well that it may not work.

I'm running Linux Mint (edge) and keep it up to date. 21.3 x86_64

Has anyone tried and had any luck with the steam deck version even though it's not officially supported?

I know we have a few who tried it and reported issues which I've addressed so they were able to use it. But I dont know if they are using Mint distribution. If you want to buy it and use it outside the steam deck, you bear the risk all by yourself

Perhaps trying it on some distros that have a "Steam Deck" emulation would work. I run Bazzite, and will give it a try. At least, my 10$ will go for a Linux support of some sort, and it's a great thing.
I'll let you guys know how it goes, and post my system specs for other Linux users to have an idea.

EDIT : Ok, so it does not work at all on latest and up-to-date Bazzite. You get a "Failed to copy AuroraLauncher file". I'll try on another distro, if I have time.
Is there a way to get the files out of the tool ?

    Hi,

Really thank you for the tool, purchased it right away and got it working for couple games I play.

I do have one game that doesn't work no matter what options I have tried.

Horizon Chase Turbo crashes as soon as the Aurora is activating trainer. I have tried different Proton, game/desktop mode, window mode to no available. The trainer works no issue on windows steam.

Couldn't find anyone else that has this issue. Any ideas? Thanks! 😀

The installer needs read and write access to $username$/.steam/steam/compatibilitytools.d/AuroraLauncher folder. When it fails to copy alias write to it, then it either don't have permissions or files in the folder already exist and are used by another process.

Ok, I'll try to play with the rights in folders and processes then.
If it fails on this Bazzite distro, I'll try in a few weeks with the new Mint release, or with latest Ubuntu.
Thanks for telling how stuff works
