What does the SD tool say for Pac-Man? Have you tried choosing a different proton version?

I've tried to choose another version of Proton via the SD Tool Edit Game Settings tab. I tried to force the Aurora window to the foreground and was given this message: Failed to force Aurora to foreground; Command execution canceled. Underlying process (bash#19847) was forcefully terminated.

I just tried it myself by installing the game on my steamdeck. Set Aurora launcher as compat tool, run it with proton experimental. Both game and Aurora launched. I was able to activate the trainer etc.

I dont know why it doesn't work for you. Try using latest Aurora launcher version and maybe reinstall game.

    Thanks for the information.
I have tried to change the proton version via the SD tool and it won't let me select anything besides Proton 6.3. I am using 1.8 of the SD tool.

That is a very old version of Proton. It only lets you select Proton versions it found installed on your Steamdeck. To install a specific Proton version you go in Steam, right click on any game and go to compatibility tab and then you can select all Proton versions. Pick a new one and Steam will download it for you. After the download completed you can switch back to whatever you had before in compatiblity tab. Now (re)start SD tool and then you should be able to select the new Proton version.

Thanks for the info. I have selected Proton Experimental when launching Pac-Man and Proton 6.3 is still used to launch the game. I have most recent versions of Proton installed on my Steam Deck. When I launch Sea of Stars and Ghost N' Goblins Resurrection, Proton 6.3 is used to initialize the SD tool and then Proton 8.0 is used when the games launch.

I am also unsure why games like Sea Of Stars and Ghost N' Goblins Resurrection are now expecting keyboard inputs instead of traditional gamepad inputs. Is there a setting in the SD tool that causes this? When I launch Sea Of Stars and Ghosts... without the SD tool selected as the compatibility tool, the games revert to traditional gamepad inputs.

I have Decky and several plugins installed on my Deck. Could Decky's plugins be conflicting with the SD tool?

The SD tool was very useful when it worked.
I am hoping I can figure this out soon.

I truly appreciate the time spent assisting me with this issue.
    🙂

I dont know what Decky is. The minimum Proton I have installed is 8.0 and I also have installed Proton Experimental. I did not choose any specific Proton myself, SD tool is using Proton Experimental by default. And all I can say is that on a default Steamdeck, launching Aurora together with the game Pac-Man using SD tool works out of the box.

Whatever is causing it to fail on your end its not the SD tool nor a setting of the SD tool. Either its Proton 6.3, I think you can uninstall it from your steam library it should be under "tools" or something. Or its "Decky" or anything else.

    I appreciate your help, 0x90.

I wanted to mention that I have disabled Aurora with games that forced keyboard inputs and now I can use the Steam Deck inputs instead of keyboard inputs with the game. Whenever I launch the SD Tool, the virtual keyboard appears when Aurora launches. In the past, I was able to use the SD Tool and was not required to use keyboard inputs. I am unsure what is causing this issue.

I will keep troubleshooting as time allows, and report my findings.
