i did everything to make it work and it did work nicely some (lag/freeze for a little time but it did seems to work after a wait).
now i wanted to play a game again where it did work.
I start the game it pops up that tinker menu select Aurora. Everything start fine.
Game start Aurora start.
but once i click on the trainer i want to use Aurora just quits i dont see an error from it. The game just keeps running fine. i tried to do that a few times but each time the same.
Timespan where i tried it. in the mornings it was working and after a few hours later wanted to play again and above happens.
Have you tried running it on desktop mode rather than gaming? I dont know whats crashing your aurora. If desktop mode doesnt work uninstall steam tinker launch then reinstall it.
I tried it in desktop mode.
i uninstalled tinker via protongt like in the first post and reinstalled it.
Everything starts till i want to choose the trainer.
Its Powerwash sim i tried as first with this method and that worked.
After that i tried Townsmen. But that one had this problem of closing the trainer.
After that it also happened with Powerwash.
When you uninstalled/removed STL did you click on "YES" when asked about removing compatibility tools?
Yes i think i did.
I will do it all again from the start. remove tinker etc restart the deck and do it again.
Im trying Townsmen A Kingdom Rebuilt and its working for me. My aurora doesnt close. Can you check your proton version in STL. On the page where you select "aurora.exe" scroll down until you see Proton options and make sure you are using the latest proton.
I dont own the original Townsmen so I cant test the standalone.
I just tried different proton versions and I can't replicate your issue. Only issues I ran into were with Proton 6.8 where Aurora just doesn't open at all. But most proton 7.0 and later seem to work.

i cant get it working again on the Steamdeck. I added the tinkerlaunch but when i try to start the game it just crashes. This had nothing to do with Aurora because i dont even that far to setup it.
When i put the it back to normal the game start. when i put tinkerlaunch back and start the game on the steamdeck it just stop working and does nothing.
i have the steamdeck on the stable version.

That it is unsupported does not mean the game does not work.

Oh okay. So the game crashes when you add STL but it work fine without it. It must be a proton issue. But you're saying you cant get to the game menu to change the proton version. When you remove STL with all compatibility tools all settings shouldve been removed so its not a settings issue. Something with STL thats not working. Can you try running a different game and see if you can get far enough into selecting "game menu" so you can change the proton version?

I had re-image my steam-deck. Installed the game Townsmen - a kingdom rebuilt.
download aurora etc. and started the game. And it works (YAY) game works the trainer works. Well all good. Except for 1 small thing. When i activated the trainer it keep saying trainer activated constantly so had to mute aurora for that.
So i exit the game/trainer etc. and press start again now i do see the Cheathappens logo of aurora ( using desktop mode) but all i see is a black squire and nothing happens.
Also tried in in steam mode but then i have to Hard reset the deck because the screen is black and cant get out of that.

The app saying activated repeatedly is a known steam deck issue.
Which proton version you using under Steam Tinker Launch?
In desktop mode, when you press alt+tab what do you see? Hover over the games window icon on the bottom and it should show 2 different windows.
Are you using a usb-c hub or a right angle usb-c adapter by any chance?
Do you have Decky Loader and DeckFAQS installed?

Im using an Anker USB-c Dongle./ No other thing loaded like decky loader or deckfaos. ( no idea what they do)
proton i used is 8.0.3c
Ok here goes.
It does seems to matter how i start the game up.
First when i click play on steam ( i have 2 games installed atm as mention before.)
i click then main menu. then i click play. Aurora seems to start but its just black cant do anything with it cant move or interact with it. When i click Alt+tab i only see that aurora is started As i only see the CH logo. So i close everything.
I click play again in steam and main menu. Now i click on game menu. and than click play on both games something else happens but also if i just click play does not always works so i uncheck a box and recheck it and click play. and then on townsmen it seems to work. it starts aurora. Once i click the trainer in aurora it doesnt seems to start the game. so sometimes i have to click launch games 1 or twice and then it works.
Now for the other game Powerwash is also a mixed bag. sometimes it works sometimes not.
Sometimes when i then close the game and close the trainer the game start up again with out starting aurora.
This is a clean re-image i did yesterday and only installed 2 games protonup-gt and the tinker/proton ones for the rest i didnt install anything else on it.
Try running it without the USB-C hub. I just want to check something. Try in both desktop mode and game mode.
Also, try using 8-14
