I'm one of the weirdo's that suffers from less common version astigmatism where I find it difficult to read high contrast/dark mode. Can I request a light theme version please?

There already is. Settings (click on your avatar) -> Misc -> Uncheck "Use dark mode". You need to restart Aurora after.
