I have an offline key, but trainer will not run unless active internet connection is had. Prompts that I should download an offline key to play offline (trainer manager confirms I have a working offline key).

Windows updates can break the KEY's functionality, the Manager just looks to see if it is there. Always check your offline key after Win updates, especially after larger ones like cumulative updates.

Another way to use it offline is still have the internet plugged in while launching the trainer, wait till it loads, then unplug it and launch the game. If you don't want to do the unplug method this will turn your internet on and off with a push of a mouse button.
