Same. I played it for one hour in offline mode. No problems at all.

In the interim, cosmos or other memory editor tools can find the upgrade tokens you get for completing missions. Its 4 byte, 4 addresses (at least it was for me). Save up enough to take at least 4 upgrade choices at once, search for your tokens, purchase an upgrade, do a next search for your new number of remaining tokens, repeat until you get down to 4 addresses. There appears to be no issue with having leftover points, so give yourself like 500 and go hog wild upgrading all your units.
