I think this is the correct file, please let me know so I can dig another one up as needed.

Just it is the only thing for KH2 I saw under:
%USERPROFILE%/My Documents/My Games/KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX/Steam/{64BitSteamID}

Edit - now read a 4th guide trying to confirm if the named their darn save .png 😵

make sure you didnt accidentally enable the freeze timer option cause if you have, you'll need to turn it off, go back to the menu and reload your save

I made sure the freeze timer option was off, and just having the trainer activated with the health options, mp, and drive options. and some gummy ship options was triggering the problem. I have yet to turn everything except the trainer off, and then try one option on at time and then in combos to see what was the problem

Also this is only the story sequences where you have 1 min to survive vs. other timed events like 100 acer wood.

Kingodm save editor doesn't recognizes your save game, see attached screenshot, zip your save game and upload it again.

I have checked my cloud saves, and it is the same file size and name so this is what steam is saving from HK2

FYI The steam version of KH 1.5 + 2.5 uses .pngs for the save files just like the epic version.

Instead of storing them in C:\Users\Yourname\Documents\Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 +2.5 ReMIX\Epic Games Store\IDNumbers\ you will find them in C:\Users\Yourname\Documents\My Games\Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 +2.5 ReMIX\Steam\IDNumbers.

You cannot just copy and paste the .png. You need to use KH Save Editor (github.com/Xeeynamo/KingdomSaveEditor/releases) and export your save then inject it into the Steam save png. The great news is that since the steam version has cloud saves, they will sync between desktop and steam deck.

Also this guide i found on steam that talks again about how the darn saves are tied to a Steam user ID and how to get around that:
