Is use of the trainer and launcher causing the game to register anyone as a cheater? I only ask because I don't want to get banned from online play once it's fixed.
" I don't want to get banned from online play once it's fixed."
The only way to prevent possibility of ban is to not cheat.
There is nothing anyone here can tell you about what they will or won't do, or how to prevent being caught.
Use at own risk.

I checked my game, and verified, then replaced the launcher with the included launcher with the trainer, and followed instructions here:
www.cheathappens.com/show_board2.asp?headID=146655&titleID=73627
Game is still 1.02 HERE on steam, and trainer continues to work and is up to date.
best,
Cal
Thanks for confirming.
I finally was able to get it to launch!
go to: Steam\steamapps\common\OUTRIDERS\
open UE4CommandLine.txt
insert -force -dx11
start OUTRIDERS-Win64-Shipping.exe
the game won't start and just keep looping when I launched it from steam
I have exactly the same problem. I tried it with the suggested command line. I verified my files and redownloaded. I also redownloaded the trainer, 'cause maybe the file got corrupted during the first download, due to a bad connection.
I can start the game w/o a problem with the original EAC_Outriders.exe, just not with the required altered one. I also tried to launch it directly from the Outriders-win64-shipping.exe. The same result, unfortunately.
Is there a error-log I can send you and if yes, where can I usually find it?
kind regards
edit: I tried it with the "old" trainer, but it's the same result. Used to work fine with the last version of the game. So I guess it has to be the game itself, 'cause the "EAC_OUTRIDERS.exe" is exactly the same file. I'll try to redownload the whole game and report back then.

Try deleting the MADNESS folder or the crash files in it
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Madness
Did try that, but to no avail.
But I tried something else. And it actually worked! 😁
I exited Steam and started up the "OUTRIDERS-Win64-Shipping.exe". It eventually started Steam automatically and I chose directx 12 (but I guess you can choose whatever you want) and lo and behold the game started. I closed the game after it and tried to start it via Steam directly and it also started without issues. Dunno what actually fixed it, but I'm happy I can use the trainer again. Hope it helps someone else too! 😀
kind regards

In accordance with PCFs use of trainers or cheating policy, players will not be banned, they will just not be able to play with "legit" players, or in other words, players who haven't cheated. You will only be able to group with (when using the in game rando group finder) other players who have also used trainers or cheated. You can however, bypass this by grouping or inviting players (verified via people who use steam) directly from your friends list. You will know, if you are already on this "list" by getting a pop-up saying you are in a low priority que etc...
Again, you will not be banned from the game, nor will you receive a VAC for this game, you will just (at some point, unknown when) receive a watermark for using a trainer or cheating..

I spoke to a friend of mine that her husband works there. And same this was said. BUT, if you use the DEMO version of the game ( hacked one ) then that will get your account banned and VAC ban. There is a DEMO version of the game that is masked as full version. Just letting you guys know that will get you a perma-ban.
This trainer, will not get you banned. Not yet though

What? OUTRIDERS doesn't use VAC. It uses EAC. They also will not ban players, they will simply throw you in a cheaters queue and add a watermark to your HUD. If you cheated in the demo, they offered you the chance to delete the character and start again.
