As with others if I set it to retain Ironman and Achievements in the trainer it shows as eligible as I play but achievements aren't granted when achieved. Everything else works fine for me. It doesn't matter whether debug mode is specifically selected for me when it should fire. I can provide the current save game if necessary.
I can attach a save file also if needed but here is a screen shot of what happens when the trainer is running in game. when you turn the Ironman and Achievement options in the games main menu everything looks fine and the Ironman part works but once you load the same and have the trainer options of for achievements all the achievements in the achievement screen vanish

Reboot PC to clear excess memory, get a fresh copy of latest trainer and Run trainer as admin, read the instructions and try again.
Got the same error, but I was able to fix it by just saving the game, exiting to desktop and then relaunching it, and making sure to activate the trainer at the main menu.

There is an internal achievement system.
