I just looked over private lockers where you can store items and no one can take them. well there's also a online lockers which means other players can store items in those lockers but other players can take them. so that means its online/multiplayer. it might be like another game for example "Let It Die" where you only enounter other players somewhere else. like an instance.

i played it for ps4 its essentialy that mechanic in dark souls where you can leave markings for others to see.
only in death stranding you can see and use eachothers buildings , work together to build roads and see eachothers walked paths.
there is no manual direct interaction.
the closest you get is when you need ammo or something
if your in a fight and you need help you can call for it. and if another player is nearby in the area their ghost pops up and chucks some useful goodies at you. typicaly a copy of something they have. like a blood transfusion or a fresh gun.
I was wondering about the online gameplay elements myself. You can play Death Stranding offline, but what happens when you've used cheats and switch to online mode? Anyway, looking forward to playing a second playthrough on the PC. Might even go in without cheats.
There is nothing really that would ruin someone's playthrough, except maybe too many bridges especially with the PC version when people can have unlimited bandwith as an option along with unlimited resources with no weight.
Took me a long time on the PS4 to rebuild roads etc, and it was only a few players I cam across when they were on the same side mission or delivery.
There was people who used Save Wizard and you could tell when their courier level was maxed, and building everywhere lol, again it didn't ruin the experience to be honest. And I am usually a stickler for anyone cheating in MP hating it.
