I figured I'd start a thread so we dont have to hunt in the main thread to find an answer.
I played as directed, moved mcc launcher to steam folder and then when I alt tab to the trainer it never started. Splash screen said customized for *** and then it disappeared.
Solution is to install microsoft core v 3.5.
Did that and it worked fine.

It's .NET Core v3.1 not 3.5.
