Works fine here. Are you activating the trainer at main menu? Are you using the STABLE branch version of the game?
1st scenario
1. Trainer activated in main menu
2. Loading save game
3. games crashes during loading save game
2nd scenario
1. Trainer activated in main menu
2. starting new game
3. game crashes
3rd scenario:
1. Trainer activated during new mission/loaded save game
2. game crashes instantly

Yes to both and it crashes before my character screen is shown(the first 3 entries)

The last 3 entries here is where the trainer is activated after the character is created and you can see your uboat but still the stable branch as no betas are activated
