Metro Exodus Message Board  

Hey CH community, I only played Exodus for the Prologue Level and I am wondering if I should play Metro 2033 first and Exodus after that? Will some stuff make "more sense"?
Does it add to the immersion and story if I start with 2033, or is this simply irrelevant? 🙂

Your opinions and feedback would be appreciated!

Release order is always recommended for games in a series.

Metro 2033 and LL reduxes both play quite well still.

Each of the games are distinctly unique and enjoyable on their own, I think Last Light is honestly the best of the series (Because so much of the 'open world' of exodus is empty space for you to run from A to B thru) but Exodus is absolutely nothing to sneeze at.

That said, to get a full understanding of Artyom (the protagonist)'s rise from a 'nobody' of the metro to basically being the symbol of hope everyone sees him as today, you almost have to play from beginning to present, gunning for a pacifist/good ending with each game.

You're missing out BIG TIME if you don't play at least Metro 2033. It's frikkin awesome, feels very claustrophobic.

Last Light is more shooter, but equally enjoyable. And the stories are pretty good. The day/night cycle of Exodus flashes me back to 2033.

You do not need to play the Redux versions. But yes you need o play Metro 2033 first.

But the redux versions are superior and have many QoL changes that make the games much better. Also you can get both pretty cheap on certain sites
