For some reason the cheats don't work unless it is locked. I followed your directions to the letter but it does not work without being locked.

What doesn't work? can you clarify? i tested the trainer myself and everything seemed to work fine.

There is a little lock icon next to the items on the list. If I leave them unlocked the cheats don't seem to work but if I lock them it works but the game crashes.

that just means whatever value you changed will be locked at that value and won't change. leaving it unlocked you type in new value hit TAB to change it in game and the number can still go up and down.

Maybe you are exceeding the games limits?

Don't lock the items,
when you wanna change something make sure you are in the build menu where you can see your materials (tab) then go to the editor and change the value of what you wanna change, make sure to confirm the change when changing the value by hitting tab when done changing the number or simply clicking on a value of another material. then you won't see the effect until you spent / earn 1 of these materials. but you can use them.

I think that johnski361 is talking about the max storage,max biomass, and max energy I change those up so I have more building options and every time I leave the ship they change back. He could be talking about others but that is just something I noticed. I still think the trainer works great it would just be better if I didn't have to reedit those values every time I come back to the ship.

i think thats how the game works, everytime you re-enter your ship it calculates the amount of energy you have left and biomass storage etc.
same with max crew, you can go as high as you want with quarters, but you cannot have more then 40 crew anyhow.
