Reboot PC to clear excess memory, get a fresh copy of latest trainer and extract it. Run trainer as admin, read the instructions and try again. At times, a new game may be needed to resolve failed options if the data in your save file was altered. Use on a new game and test the option. If it now works, quit to main menu and load your save and try it again. May also need to run the game without the trainer first and play a bit so the save file gets updated to use possible new values.
I have noticed a few options no longer work after the most recent trainer update even though the version of the game matches the trainer. Two of the options I have noticed stopped working were the volcano timer and the production speed options. As far as I can tell all the other options are working correctly. At first I thought it was my game so I started a new game rebooted my computer even reinstalled the game itself. I am not sure if this would be considered requesting an update or if it falls under broken by trainer update? It worked before the 5th which from what I can tell was when the trainer was updated last.
Yes, I would go ahead and submit an update request.
Submitted an Update Request, Game Version is now 1.29.439.0.f9. Thanks.
yes we put new trainer out April 3, the developers patched it away 12 hours later on April 4

This game is notorious patch monster, and the developers appear to do very little internal testing before they release broken (continued) updates on this endlessly broke game. So the end user has to do all the bug testing and reporting on a game they paid for, which is supposedly out of early access in theory.
best,
