This is upsetting since I refuse to use the epic store client. So I hope this doesn't become the norm.
Luckily I pre-ordered before they took it off steam but still upsetting. 😣
Many of us do prefer Steam for our games but we appear to be looking at the beginning of a significant shake-up in the distribution space.
Epic has money, they've made over $3 Billion on Fortnite alone. Besides Deep Silver's Metro Exodus, Ubisoft has announced it will be selling its Division-2 on the Epic Store and not Steam. Those are the first two AAA games ignoring Steam in favor of the Epic Store. Also, some of the Indie games are moving to the Epic Store as well.
Like 0X90 said, competition is good for the industry though it can get confusing before it gets better. This is a major competition for Steam, it will be interesting to see what all shakes out in game distribution in the coming months and what it will mean to both CH and players. When games we want are only available on Epic, then we'll have to do some business there, too.

Physical copies still contain a valid steam key and can still be used.
