I agree with all the above posters, the main problem is the monsters get WAY bigger armies it seems when they retrieve gold coins, so this just makes the game unwinnable.
This game is a physics UNITY game. Each 'coin' is an object. They either have to be created or destroyed. Unfortunately, the way the game works, the pouch is another object, and there is three things 'counting' the number of whatever.
I never found a good way to 'create coins' out of thin air, other than them being created using the game's create function and put into the bag. The best way to use this is to toggle the option on, drop and then pick up one coin, then toggle the option back off.
I have no idea why the game is 'unwinnable' since you can make it where the enemies cannot attack you, or that it's always daytime if you like. Then again, I went to 5 separate islands and couldn't find stones/rocks or whatever it is you need to upgrade the bases after awhile. I also didn't see what exactly else to do, other than make a ship and go to the next island.

To alex_hart1986 :
Just as being said, you can drop the coins where enemies cannot attack. Or you can freeze time, get the coins, wait for the overflow to disapear (and in the meantime do whatever you want) and unfreeze time later. Or try to stock the overflow with your people... It works for me.
To Cal :
Concerning the coins. Can't you just create like 10 or 20 objects "coin" (and put it in the object "pouch" ? And if we need more we just press the hotkey trainer ?
Concerning the freeze time. For me it only set time to the beginning of the night. When the moon is at the left of the screen.

the trainer doesn't set time at all. it freezes the current time you have going. So toggle it on when you are at a point where you want the time to stay

I know the trainer is recently updated to fix 3 of the options (unlimited sprint, no damage, freeze time), and it functioned fine on the core game, and Shogun. *No damage doesn't seem to affect Breeder (big chungus), and Crown Stealer (doggy looking thing)
But aside from the two minor exception for No damage function.
NONE of the function seems to work on the 3rd DLC Dead Lands.
Unlimited gallop doesn't work.
Unlimited coins doesn't work.
Freeze time of day doesn't work.
I can only assume no damage also doesn't work.
And since unlimited coins doesn't work, I'm still stuck on the first island, unable to obtain any Gems to test if that function works or not.
I recently reported the trainer needed to be update, and it did. I'm just not sure if I should report it through the report feature or not for this specific issue.
we don't have any DLC for this annoying and poorly programmed game. It's not even surprising that they don't share code from the core of the game with some new DLC..
I have no suggestions, since I cannot test it, and this game has been a ridiculous exercise in patience for me...
