Much luck to the CH team as they consult with legal. I would ask that if the trainer is removed, that they at least post the details as to why so that others can know what capcom legal is actually doing/preventing. This will help others in the modding community avoid similar legal entanglements. TYVM!
Once a Legal Team has become involved, the chances of getting details drops dramatically as they often advise that detailed explanations could accidentally reveal sensitive information related to "behind the scenes" negotiations.
But IRT the last line of your comment; as I type this response, the current list of free public mods consists of mods that break the economy, subvert and or bypass the farming aspect of the game, unlock paid DLC features, provide access to inactive DLC items, and even allow you to see personal data of other players around you. And that's just the first page without clicking the "view more" button!
In my admittedly extremely biased opinion/observation, it could not be more blatantly clear that capcom absolutely does not care what "modders" are doing. Their issue appears to be something specific to the Trainer or trainers in general. This worries me.

What caught my attention was Calibers post, and his statement concerning how the trainer is problematic for CAPCOM and is causing "harm to them". Now, in my mind given what this trainer and editor does, harm or be problematic for CAPCOM? Well, it's not recoding the game, nor is it degrading anything. The leaderboards? Who cares about that, everybody knows the people with less that 1 second kill times are all BS players anyway lol so in all honesty, how is this trainer/editor truly "hurting" their game? The answer has already been given, yet CH lawyers have problably advised the team to not give any further information conercning the issue, which is prudent. Can CAPCOM bring legal proceedings against them, well the EULA is a "binding agreement" (when you click yes, you agree, whether you like it or not, you agree to play their game, you agree to their terms) however I have seen it go both ways in court cases I have read about. The fact that CAPCOM has gone this far, is a little worrisome, but my money is on the money. I have been able to pull items out of the database and give it to my hunter for things which have not been released yet (gamma armor, and behemoth armor) and have already upgraded it all to max. Will this be apart of a paid DLC later? I can not tell you, but the fact that I have already done this, is something that CAPCOM knows can be done, and the "harm/problems" in which I an only conclude they are referring to, is the lack of dollars this will end up not bringing them in the future if players can outright bypass buying the DLC and give themselves the armor or weapons via an editor. How long has this game been out with no issue, almost a year, now its an issue? I ask why? I would say this, they are planning a paid DLC drop is my guess, and this editor will allow players to pull those items out, and CAPCOM is trying to stop that so players cant get around paying money. Thats my guess, and is it in CH best interest to stop support for this trainer? IDK, but I do appreciate what they have done up to this point, and i know I dont want anyone to get fined or have any drawn out expensive legal battles over something as trival as a video game trainer/editor. My adivice to everyone, do what you need to now with the editor, explination on how to use it is in another thread.
then all games with optional online, could say the same .. like overkill the walking dead.
You are correct, however the majority, off the cuff guess of maybe 97%, of the trainers do not come with an editor like this one does, that grants the ability to give items which this game relies on an RNG system that is the whole point of their draw. The "grind" of this game, is to get enough materials to make the end game items, when you have a thing like their editor which skips that, then there is no draw to that, thus not really keeping a player base engaged within their game. When that happens, they lose money, because studies show the longer someone is involved with a game the more likely they are to buy things like expansions, DLC, in game emotes etc. Most gaming companies do not care about the things in which CH brings to the table in all honesty, thats why you really never see anything like this happen, because it doesn't affect their bottom line, the sales are made prior to the use of the trainer, but when the items are client side, not server side, and you have an editor which can pull that data and give it to the player prior to a paid DLC drop and those items cant be locked behind a paywall? well thats a different story, one that no tripple A gaming company wants to lose money over. Again just my speculation based on what i can make a conclusion off of. I am for this staying alive, apprecaite what the CH team has done, and this is setting a standard for sure.

@ew2thomas
Then why does Capcom not go after the console savegame editors that allow you to give yourself any item in the game, including the ones not yet officially released, but already in the data?
Also, you do not need the CH editor to give you items on the PC. You can just as easily get one of the mods that are floating around and which change the list of items sold in the shop in Astera. Again, including unreleased stuff, as long as it is in the data files already.
That is actually one of the reasons Capcom patched out the Behemoth- and Gamma-Armors with one of the recent updates. Again, the funny thing is that this seems to bother them on PC, but on consoles, they don't seem to care. ^_^"
Controlling console players is a lot easier than PC, like i said, I already have Behemoth armor and some gamma armor on PC. That is exactly why they care, my conclusion is, they are looking to put it in a paid DLC, this is just a logical guess on my part to why they directly contacted CH about this, and if the armor and weapons are client side, using an editor like what CH provides, doesn't allow for them to lock it behind a paywall. They would have to revamp the entire RNG loot process, pull all the code into the servers, and turn it into a handshake you do a quest, and at the end, the server RNGs you loot, vice having it all client side now. An example of how that works would be Vermintide 2, or how the taroth Kulve fight works, you get the ? loot, then the weapon you get is determined after you turn in by an RNG loot roll. However, you can bypass that totally with the editor, which is what I believe CAPCOM is trying to advoid here because that is endgame loot, you can essentially turn a tier one weapon into a tier 8 end game Kulve weapon your tier 1 armor into full gamma armor when you have only played the game 10 min total...
