Five years later.....
First let me thank Cal and anyone else who has worked on this and perhaps other trainers for producing something that does work very well. Health is stable as are money and power but some problems seem to lie lie with exp, attribute and talent(?) points (not sure what these are). Is this down to chaotic coding by various developers over the years which is difficult to unravel or is it a misunderstanding on the part of we, the users?
One trainer I used on the CD version of the game which was set up for version 1.18074.70.4256 (from Cheat Happens, incidentally) had the useful feature of allowing the player to add or subtract a level. This meant that when the exp points reached the point where the level would increase by 1, the player could then go back to the previous level, kill an enemy or two, get the level up splash screen and repeat as often as needed. In this way you could accrue more than the stingy 1 skill and 5 attribute points allowed. It has occurred to me that if someone could create a synthesis of the two trainers, health, money and power from the 2.1.0.4 trainer and the level up/down from the older trainer then perhaps the problems this game has caused, where trainers are concerned, might be solved? I'd be interested in seeing any feedback.
I do have a screenshot of the trainer's main screen if of use.
I don't think it's possible due to the way that the code handles changes to the game files, as it works more like an actual MMO in the sense that each time we start the game, the values have been moved to a different table which resets our initial changes done to the game, such as money, skill points and more.
In the end, Hellgate London 2018 was a poorly done attempt at making an online multiplayer game into a single player game. They didn't even bother removing any of the multiplayer features, they just deactivated them.
Better wait for the next Hellgate title currently in development by most of the same people who worked on the original. It's called Hellgate Redemption.
Overall the trainer seems to work OK, I have noticed that it needs a demon or whatever to physically strike my character to activate the return to full health when health is close to critical but power and money remain stable. Setting the XP, attribute and talent points only lasts throughout a session - closing down and reloading strips those points away.
I have experienced a few, generally, beneficial anomalies, though. I'm currently playing as a blademaster and while the weapons I'm using show the damage criteria expected of that weapon, the actual damage I do is very high. For example, I'm killing the 'boss' demons in the Westminster catacomb levels with just one hit . . . no complaints about that! A second oddity is that if I try to start a new game and choose a different character class, at some point that new character will fail usually by not reloading.
Has anyone else experienced similar anomalies?
have you tried turning off the trainer options before creating a new character?
