Hi all. I was tempted to get this game but one thing that has really put me off is how Ubisoft are gating some items behind purchasing real world items and from participating retailers.

Whether I would ever obtain those items in the game (if they were available) and actually make use of them I can't say but I hate buying a game where I feel like I can't have the full experience, which unfortunately means these days I tend to need to purchase some expensive editions of games.

Does anyone know how any of this stuff actually works? I'm guessing the items must be in the game files somewhere rather than being done as complete DLC items. Is there any hope of players being able to obtain these items through trainers or tools like CoSMOS?

those items works like this: you get a code to put in the ubisoft uplay client and it unlock the item in the game for you.

So it can't be cheated because is account bounded, it's like you asked to unlock a game on it, the process is the same...so no.

the items are just purple (epic) you get those easy enough in game (same rarity different look) but in game you can earn yellow (legendary) that are way better.

personally I think it just clutter your inventory those items and the club too you can't deconstruct for materials or sell, so you have them constantly in your inventory or in the blacksmith store.

p.s. the idiocy of it all is that the codes are on the back of the packages that you can read well before buying... and those codes are used for a us promotion to win some other real things too

Thanks for the response. Wasn't sure if there would be a way of tricking it in to thinking you had unlocked the items.

I understand why they do things like this, it's part of their plan to make all of the money in the world and not a single penny less than that, I just don't like spending a lot of money on a game and know that I still have content missing even if they are just a few items that aren't even that great.

I will happily take any unwanted Pizza Rolls, if you wann buy them just for the codes

I might be able to share some more insight on this matter. I earned alot of purple items and gold items.

Gold = legendary items they are worth your time and can be unlocked by just playing the game. When you are level 50 (just use the xp cheat) go to the arena in pfefka (Kreta) and kill all the fighers there. I got 3 or 4 legendaries there these are mostly for warrior builds.

That being said not all purple (epic) items can be discarded easily as some builds are better off when using a few purples. I still have a purple helmet for my warrior build and my primary melee weapon is purple too.

Sadly in the UK we have neither Totino's nor Wallmart but if that situation ever changes then I'll ensure you are top of the list 😆

Clearly this deal is in place to make all the parties involved more money, Ubisoft are being paid to promote Totino's and Wallmart, Totino's and Wallmart get another advertising medium and sell additional products.

You would think that Ubisoft would want to align with more international brands or would have partnerships with different companies in different countries.

This is the thing I find a bit funny about the greed of some companies, they want more money and no matter how much money they make it is never enough but then they limit the amount of money they can make by excluding the majority of the market.

Still not sure if I'm going to pick this game up or not. Although I've tried most of the recent Assassin's Creed games the only one I really stuck with was Black Flag, I just like sailing about and being a pirate, I tried to avoid as much of the on land and story content as I could 😆 As a general rule I much prefer games where I get to create a character, I don't just mean a physical character creator although I do like that but I mean more in terms of who they are and how they behave. With Black Flag I felt I had that a bit more because it was easier to avoid the main storyline which dictates so much of that.

I love the huge game worlds and generally like how combat is handled in the series I just find that I don't particularly enjoy the character I get to play and that the story never hooks me, if you asked me the plot of any Assassin's Creed game I had played all I would be able to tell you is that the Assassins and the Templars don't like each other and I get to play as 'some guy' who is involved in it because of reasons... I would assume.

I tried Origins but again the story just didn't interest me in the slightest, admittedly I didn't give it much chance to, I think I gave up whilst I was still in the initial area, I did play it for quite a few hours not entirely sure why I stopped playing (besides not finding my character to be interesting and not yet being hooked by the story), I do remember what was maybe a side mission involving a group of... I'm going to say bandits who were operating out of a cave and it took me a few attempts and some lame tactics to complete it as I was under levelled, the whole levelling thing kinda bugged me, whilst I love the idea of progression I hate it when it comes to combat sometimes, "oh right you're high level so if I stick a sword through your head it just does 2 damage, how immersive and not at all annoying".

I want to want this game, I love the setting, Spartans are badass anyway and then you have all that rich ancient Greek lore. I just get the feeling I'll buy it, play if for 2 hours and never go back to it.

this is the less assassin creed of them all, it's like origins in the vein of the combat but with more freedom to it, the naval combat it's there and it has some upgrades in therms of stats and 4 crew members that give some bonus, all npc, mercenaries and even some quest givers can be recruited in those roles (higher rarity give more bonuses).

The character is more rpg , you got items with different bonuses for 3 playstiles (hunter-assassin- warrior) the skill you can to a respec anytime you want to change and try different combinations of those 3 stiles;
the choices in the dialog you get are of 3 natures: kill(war mentality) spare(peace mentality) don't care(neutral balance), so different endings based on choices.

Some choices can have consequences later in the game.

Items can be personalized with an upgrade (unlocked with your levels , higher level more powerful they are) some are parts of sets that give a bonus tied to that.

sharks get attracted by blood so a ship just destroyed cause a few of them to appear

there are mythical creatures in the game .

every zone is a potential war zone , controlled by Athen or Sparta , you can tip the balance and sabotage the zone , join the battle for who attack(more rewards) or who defend .

you can choose how to earn xp, main missions are in gold, but there are daily missions(grey) with a timer you can do if you want or not ,bounties,errands,naval, or destabilize a zone to prompt a war and earn from that.

quests get the same level you have even after you have taken them, same for animal companion gets upped to your level(you can tame animals with an ability).

Mercenary are ranked , the higher you climb the ladder more xp and gold you earn for any job.

Towers to synch are there, but you can skip them and aside upgrade the eagle, they don't unlock anything on the map.

You have the Spartan Kick meme ability like in the movie 300 , it's stupid , it's campy,it's fun, I use it a lot...

I wish there was a demo for people to try, not sure if watching some let's play can help you with a decision, for sure in the future when the price is cut you should try it , if only to kick like a spartan...
