1080 60fps is fine for me I do not need 4k as I do not see much differance at all. Higher than 60fps and I see no differance to me either. But when it drops below that to gain looks na that is a step backwards to me. If I cant get constant 60fps across the board then no thanks. My current 970 gets me constant 60 fps accross all my games and looks awesome. So it will be difficult as hell for them to convince me to get RTX. Its to young and not enough coverage. Save your cash till it drops down. Also Exodus appears to have way more outside than inside. So that is alot of cash to go yeah RTX for that little boost.

Price drops? Lol.. that rarely happens anymore. It's more like "do I want to wait and pay maybe $50-100 less, or play now and eat that cost", and has been that way for a long time.
Also, if you can't differentiate 60fps and over, more power to you for staying at where you can play. I can notice the difference. 90fps is the threshhold for me to keep things smooth.
Sidenote, have you actually seen anything on a monitor that has higher refresh rates than 60hz? Usually I see this argument (incorrectly) thrown around by people that never have.
Anyway, VR also gets served better by higher frame rates. Same issues, motion sickness, fixed by HFR gaming. That's one reason why I went with a 144Hz monitor.
There are certainly tiers in gaming where people want to be. I'm not looking to game at what my 780 could have done, which is 1080p60. My GTX1080 is at the limit for what I like in 1440p/4k30/60 gaming without reducing settings. That's why I was asking the people that game in that tier for their real world experiences. Also, you might want to consider gsync or freesync. I don't get smoothness issues until frames frop to around 39fps with gsync enabled. It was worth the price.
DarkTao, I'm gaming on my 4k TV for a while now and I'm never going back to 1080p. Yep, I fired up some older games such as Batman:Arkham Origins, Stalker: Call Of Pripyat or Dead Space 2.
Play the Shadow of games (Mordor/War). They're amazing at 1440p. At 4k, it's no contest.
