If you own the digital version on ORIGIN, please try the trainer for the C&C ultimate collection as the Generals one seems to work fine apart from the fact instant build will give you a damaged building and you have to wait for the repair timer.
Open game first then the trainer, select Generals from the trainer drop menu then activate.
Only had the Ultimate Collection to test with, So it may or may not work for the stand alone. Feel free to try it out and report back.

Tested and confirmed with standalone game. Also ran into this with C&C Red Alert 3, standalone trainer crashes game, but UE trainer works great. Apparently the games were all updated to be the same as their Ultimate Edition versions.
