Hope someone can help me out with this. This is the first title I've ever bought through the Windows Store. Whenever I run the trainer, the game itself gives me a warning about a background program running, then another message about checking for an update failed and not having a valid license for the game, which proceeds to kick me out of the game. I am running on Win 10. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Might be Trueplay, just turn it off. Settings>Gaming>TruePlay slider switch on/off or it could be controlled folder access in defender security settings. Need to know more about your system to be sure as it could be a hundred other things.

Just checked and TruePlay is already off. The game seems to detect any background program running (even tried CoSMOS) and kicks me off. The first message is a warning stating: A running process may be interfering with the correct operation of State of Decay 2... Then the second message says Check for update failed: The signed in users do not have a license for this game...

Are you logged into your Windows Store account and is it linked to the user account being used on the computer?

Yes, I'm logged into the Windows Store and the account is tied to this computer. It runs fine if it's running by itself (ie. no trainer or CoSMOS).

Try running the game .exe as an admin.

Alright, after I took ownership of the folder WindowsApps and everything else inside it, it won't let me run the file StateOfDecay2-UWP64-Shipping.exe, even though I've already taken ownership and changed permissions.
