Is the game any good? I've heard mention of some bugs and crashes so I'm hesitant to buy it but i thought I'd ask and see if the game is any fun.

I can't even get the game to launch at all, Steam just says I'm playing it for about 2 seconds and then it says I'm not. No idea what is wrong, nobody else seems to know what is going on as well. I'd wait for a deep discount sale, honestly.
Who cares how you play the game, winning is all that matters.

If you like in-depth RPGs then you'll like this game. More so if you enjoy the style of the Bethesda games. A caveat though is that much like the Bethesda games there is a level of jank that comes with the game. Odd glitches and bugs, animation & performance issues but like I said, it's more like a Beth game so it's not really an issue if your willing to look that stuff over.

The gameplay is like a mixture of Mount & Blade, Chivalry with a dash of ArmA. I've clocked in about 8 hours now and as an RPG connoisseur I am very much enjoying this game, and would recommend it to those who enjoy the genre.

Just be sure to manage your expectations, the game doesn't start out like a typical RPG power fantasy. Your guy is literally a peasant so you can't run around steamrolling enemies and getting phat loot from level 1. Things like a single important piece of armor you have or a miss click when fighting can be the difference between life and death in this game.

Apparently the way to solve this problem was to reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio on my computer. At least that was what fixed it for me, I wasn't getting the missing DLL error, but that was the issue, VCRUNTIME140.dll was missing. Finally able to see if I like this game, strange that no other games have given me this issue.

I had a similar problem with need for speed undercover on steam. It would play the hot pursuit cinema scene and then just stop playing. All steam does is say contact the game company and not them.

As far as the game itself goes: it is very in-depth and there are a lot of factors to every system that you need to be aware of. The combat is particularly punishing if you aren't fully aware of your condition before a fight. It's more similar to the first two Witcher games in that respect, though with even more systems to consider. It doesn't force you to guess which potions you're going to need before you even see what you'll be fighting though. I always hated that about those first two Witcher games. This is far more organic.

Personally I love the combat when it vs 1 or 2 people. Once you start fighting groups it becomes almost impossible. The mechanism for switching target is quite sloppy, as is the targeting for combat itself. You may already know that you have to select the direction to hold your sword for striking and blocking, but it's so imprecise that it's very hard to reliable pick the right direction, especially if you're moving -- which the game frequently reminds you to do.

The game also has a pretty poor intro sequence with semi-scripted fight/chase scenes, that are both buggy and inconsistent. At one point your forced into a horse chase but you have no way to defend yourself against the arrows constantly being hurled at you, and going back to fight doesn't work because they just back away from you.
Luckily the rest of the game bears no relation to that, but they can be a pain to get past and a lot of people in the Steam forums have gotten refunds because they think that's what the game is like.
