Jim Sterling just did a Jimquisition on how EA put microtransactions into Dead Space 2 and 3. I did a bit of research afterwards and confirmed this on multiple gaming news outlets.
For Dead Space 3, I'm pretty sure you can get free Ration Seals using the trainer or a memory editor ?
It's tragic, but funny nevertheless. Really loved the Dead Space series... except for 2. The ending skeeves me out, man.
Yeap, you nailed it. You can in fact get the Ration Seals from the trainer.
Blew me away when I first saw that but being a loyal CH minion, I made sure to use all the trainer options to their fullest extent.

really loved the Dead Space series. this news was out several days ago and i cudnt help but ask Y is EA making it a habit of destroying popular franchise.
Not too happy about how they've handled ME Andromeda either.
EA bought Pandemic Studios back in the day, the ones who made the Mercenaries games and the beloved Star Wars Battlefront classics. They eventually brought back Star Wars Battlefront as an MMO, but I don't think it's safe to say just yet that they'll bring back Dead Space in any capacity given that it's unpopular with older people and the anti-violence crowd. It's a niche product, and EA doesn't like that because it limits potential sales figures.
