Can this game played fully offline? Or does it requires internet connection? Blizzard is known to strike against any kind of cheating so before I'll take a look on it I need someone to verify this game does not need any internet connection at all in order to play.

Yes, you can play it with the internet disabled, however you need to keep the internet enabled until the game loads into the main menu, since that is how they verify that you have the original game and the remaster. If you try to load it up with the internet disabled, it will load the original StarCraft and not the remastered version.
Who cares how you play the game, winning is all that matters.

Is Blizzard's battle.net app mandatory to run the game?
Good for health, bad for education.

Yes, it seems to be. Even selecting StarCraft.exe in the install directory brings up the Battle.net app.

This game seems to be fully online. A trainer is not needed as there are single player cheat codes you can enter, and no achievements to be had anyway.
