Help Opinion Cheat Code Nt Working

When I enter the cheat command add_opinion SOV, I get the result 100 more opinion added. However, the opinion in diplomatic screen never changes to reflect this increase - any help would be appreciated. Also, I've tried to no avail with following commands, I'm playing as Germany:
add_opinion SOV GER
add_opinion Sov Ger
add_opinion sov ger
add_opinion SOV

Thanks for any help on this!
