I think down the line in 10 - 20 years the server could shutdown and at that time because this game is huge they should look into singleplayer mode or offline mode so people can still play it without online services cause if that is not the case then what a wasted game that would be. lot of stuff have been put in this game and it would all go to waste.

It looks like Wildlands got an offline mode, so there might be a chance...
