Use the followers option to get research points.
My only objection to this would be that it affects the story. Missions will pop up well before they should because you've reached a certain "Follower count". It's noticeable when they go from having just met to all of a sudden talking as if they've been friends for life. Kinda breaks the whole ambiance for me. Anyways, just my two cents. I'd personally like to see a cheat for just research points, but I've tried myself to look for the values and the only one that pops up is some 4-byte memory that only temporarily changes the visual of how many points you have. (And yes, I've actually tried searching for values in all categories. Takes a LOONG time, but still comes up with the same results). So, I presume that the values are hidden.

Yes, the actual value is a calculation of many other things which is why you can't change it and that we don't have a specific option for it. There was a method posted on our WD2 page that people were using to get unlimited research points. Perhaps it still works.
