Well this just gets weirder and weirder. Woke up this morning to find my desktop icon to FC4 had changed to generic Windows icon. I have a direct desktop icon to the FC4.exe file so I can add the '-skipintro' addon and avoid the pointless NVidia and Ubisoft self congratulatory guff when you launch the game. Anyways, further investigation showed that back in the Ubisoft FC4 folder the .exe file itself had also lost its icon, dropping back to generic Windows one too. No amount of 'Change Icon' clicking would restore it. It was then that I noticed a new separate FC4.ico file that I swear wasn't there yesterday. Sure enough changing to the external .ico file restored the exe and desktop icons to a FC4 logo. Well actually it's a completely new style icon from what it was before but that's besides the point. All this leads me to the conclusion that Ubisoft have recompiled the FC4.exe file and snuck it in, and now sporting an external ico file. God knows why and they haven't changed the game numbering, it's still v1.10. The whole thing's just odd.

Well bum, the powers that be have decreed it's all still working fine and there's no need for a re-do. Which is annoying as it's definitely borked! I imagine they haven't given their copy of FC4.exe time to have been messed with by Ubisoft and so it still appears to work for them. Ho hum.

I can see how it appears to be for you, but I can assure you it's still crashing the game for me. I've tried everything - running with AVG and Zone Alarm not running, Zone Alarm and AVG running but with the trainer white listed in both. I've definitely only tried to F1 it in-game, never at the opening menu. I've had Ubisoft verify all the FC4 files repeatedly and always given a clean bill of health. I've even deleted FC4 and redownloaded it and reinstalled. I've redownloaded the trainer on more than one occasion to see if that was corrupted. All to no avail. The one thing I can't try is Alt-Tab out to the Trainer and invoke it then as that will automatically crash Far Cry (something to do with the Optimus software I think on my Asus 750JZ laptop not liking co-running both the NVida and the Intel chip to one screen).
So this leaves some questions.
1. How do you explain it running perfectly fine for five days prior to this?
2. The other chap in this thread also saying it's crashing for him (and presumably the third person who's also claimed it to be crashing for them)?
And I repeat I am not trying the launch the trainer at the opening menu, but ingame only.
Above all this, though, I do appreciate the time and effort you're putting into trying to sort this for me. I can imagine it's as frustrating for you as it is for me.

The latest trainer has been downloaded by over 11,000 members. I feel like if it was globally not working then we would be hearing more users come forward. If one of you would like to do a TeamViewer session with the trainer maker, PM 0x90 and if he has time he might be able to sort it out. You can also zip/rar your game exe and attach here for him to compare and examine or upload it to a file sharing website.

Two possible reasons: You are choosing online instead of offline at main menu (see my video) or your executable is, for whatever reason, different.

Sadly I never play online, can't stand it, only ever play off-line. I guess that leaves us with my exe file is somehow different. Seems odd though as I've only just downloaded (for about the third time) to make sure I'm getting a proper working version. Incidentally, the game plays flawlessly when I don't try the trainer, so I'm thinking it's okay. I'd be glad to send you a copy of it so you can make sure.

Amazing, the trainer work again today, no explanation, no clue!
And nope, I always start the trainer in-game, when the file is loaded from my last save, then get out of the "cabin" (in-game), then press F1, and never, never use "online play".
Also, Ubisoft is patching their launcher every time I launch any of their games, this must affect any/all of Ubi's games, as they wish(?).
It's hard to find if it's the trainer that need an update or if the Ubi devs who play tricks on us, players.
I wrote this to let you know that the trainer is great and still working fine 😍
