Found it. The same happened with other auto saves, but without the trainer running it all works normally
Also, same happens in a fresh game. Even had the hero called Loremaster Semsanitnwona in turn 1 when you don't have one. That is the name I get with saves also but not when the trainer is not running.
Also, the game doesn't quit to desktop except by closing the trainer or force quitting it

I have the same issue of the 1st hero in game being named in a weird way with level set to 7 with 3 skill points available.
Hi
First off i love all the hard work you guys do and have never had a problem with a trainer until this one for endless space 2 1.05.
I run it as admin it shows the loading splash screen which then fades out as normal then the trainer crashes before the windows showing all of the options loads up, i thought it might be my PC but all of your other trainers load up ok (Prey, Nier, etc)
It may just be me but i thought i would let you know.

I'm having the same issue as well. Just tried the newest update and still having this problem.
It's highly likely that your antivirus/firewall prevents the newly created tmp file (~CheathappensTrainerxxxx.tmp) from accessing the internet.
The tmp file is created in this location: C:\Users\YourWindowsUserName\Cheathappens\Work
Please create an exclusion rule for this location in your AV and/or firewall for the temp file as well as for the trainer exe.
How do I do that? The .tmp file disappears before I can make an exception, and the other trainers I've downloaded and run don't have this problem.
Yes the trainer must be closed first. However can you please see if it makes a difference if you activate the trainer at main menu (after a fresh game start) and if you activate the trainer after you opened the hero management screen and clicked on a character?
Because its very likely caused by the game creates code on your computer differently. In that case I would need to take a look via teamviewer on it.
The trainer works when I start a game, enter the hero screen and then hit F1. The skills option works when I enter the skill page of a hero, hit 2 and then click on a skill.
Starting a fresh game with the trainer already started from above and it works properly also.
I will be starting the trainer in the hero screen until there is a fix/updated trainer.

You can exclude the whole 'Work' folder -> C:\Users\YourWindowsUserName\Cheathappens\Work\
Or use a wildcard file exclusion (if applicable in your AV) with ~CheathappensTrainer* as the digits at the end of the file name change everytime you run the trainer.
