This is the same problem I am having. Trainer for TQ Anniverary (steam) crashes during the GUI load. A hard crash, no explanations, just a windows "close program" prompt. I tried everything in the PDF file with no success. I don't even run antivirus, it messes with all my trainers. I'm just extremely careful where I go now! Can anyone help?
Many thanks to all you good people. "

Your antivirus or some other security software is deleting/blocking the created tmp file. You do have something running. It could even be some backup software monitoring all processes and tasks that kills the tmp file.
You have to create an exclusion rule for ~CheathappensTrainer.tmp (better: a wildcard exclusion like ~CheathappensTrainer*). If your security software cannot exclude files than you have to exclude the 'Work' folder in this location -> C:\Users\YourWindowsUserName\Cheathappens\
Tested on Windows 10 Pro x64 v1703 (Creators Update) with Defender + SmartScreen + Firewall enabled.
So apparently the game found but it keeps giving me "error."
What kind of error? When does the error occur? What distribution platform (Steam or GOG)?
The game is at least on v1.44 while our trainer is for v1.42.
