According to a short web search you may need to repair the installation:

I get this when i install and run CoSMOS:

Faulting application name: CoSMOS.exe, version: 1.2.8.1, time stamp: 0x57bcb3d7
Faulting module name: CoSMOS.exe, version: 1.2.8.1, time stamp: 0x57bcb3d7
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x00000000005c18aa

    Faulting package full name:

    P2: 1.2.8.1

    P7: c0000005
    P8: 00000000005c18aa

    P10:

Running Win10 Pro x64 Version 1607 OS Build 14393.82 and all updates.

Looks like c0000005 is some sort of access violation to memory read/write access.
Device Manager doesn't show any faulty device either. hmm..i wonder if it has something to do with overclocking memory with XMP profile. I've tried adding full control rights and compatibility modes and let it through Comodo Internet Security.

Ok i just disabled all overclocking settings and also disabled Comodo and Windows Defender and Windows Firewall, but it still gives the same error. I don't know what causes it (repaired VC's also, but i will try to repair .net framework next). Launch it, it loads and stops, doesn't even open up.

Ok used .net framework cleanup tool and verifier after rebooting and problem still occurs.

Yes i've downloaded and installed both and there are also older and newer versions installed. Looks like i just have to use basic CoSMOS.

Can you try installing the VC++ redistributables yourself?

    Link

Don't forget to install BOTH 86 and 64.

You could try repairing your VC++ redistribution installation: Link install/repair BOTH.

There also some other suggestions around the internet like:
Right-Click the Windows Icon and open up an Admin Command Prompt

    At the prompt type:
    Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    sfc.exe /scannow

Finally, in the command prompt, run a disk check that requires a reboot
    chkdsk c: /f /v /x

I've installed CoSMOS on a brand new Windows 7 64bit machine and it works fine.
