Do you really have to do all that or can you just start in Singleplayer Mode? As in, do you have to Launch without BattleEye AND start Singleplayer, or can you just start singleplayer?

The trainer will not work. Battleye protects the game from being manipulated/read by external software. It will not deactivate itself when you just choose singleplayer.

So yes you have to start ARK without anticheat. But I don't see a problem with this since when you launch steam you get all available launch option. It just takes 1 more click that's all.
