I am experiancing tab button issues. It seem that if I use the overlay steam it freaks out the tab button and wont like me use it to exit the screens am in while playing.

it's a known issue, basically it can mess up the "tab" and "esc" binds.

To trigger it for sure using "shift+tab" do the trick.

you can press (shift+tab) till it reverse itself but it is random.

It can switch functions from "tab" to "esc" or just disable one of them or even both.

Going in the bind screen and resetting to default or just rebind it can have no effect.

the only real fix with no issues is save , close the game and then play again from that save.

Opefully a fix will come.

Ah. Ok I was wondering. I did have to do the save, restart and load a couple of times. But alt Tab in n out seems to sort it. Only issue I have come accross so far.

This is a rather common steam bug -- When you press Shift + Tab, the game detects you pressing the keys, but not always releasing them as Steam takes over focus.
TL;DR By pressing and releasing shift, and again pressing and releasing tab you can clear the issue 9/10 times

I've also found simply ALT-TAB'ing out of game, and then back in again fixes it. Though thats a pain in the backside when trying to play a game and have a chat-conversation at the same time.
