I ended up just ignoring the warning and the trainer works fine. I guess McAfee lumps a lot of their warnings under the Artemis label. Recommendations on a better anti-virus? Not Kaspersky though...
Every other security software that is capable of excluding files and folders.
The rest is up to your personal preferences. Do you like to have a lot features and options, do you like to have a nice GUI, don't want to be bothered at all?

Does anyone else have a problem looting certain weapons when the trainer is active?
Without the trainer active I never have a problem.
With the trainer active, looting some weapons causes a ctd.
Not all the time, and not always the same weapons.
The main culprits are baseball bats, bumper swords, chinese great swords, rippers, knuckles, gravity fists, and a few others.
The two things they have in common are that they are all melee weapons, and they only ctd when the trainer is active.
To be clear, the trainer can be on and not cause any problems so long as I have not activated any of it's funtions.
Just go to Nexus mods and get the mod called Cheat Terminal. It does everything in the game and can give you everything in the game.

So we can go ahead and retire the trainer then?

Please don't. I still use it quite a bit for the settlement increase, crafting, and the perk points.
I've tried mods that increase the settlement buildings, but they mostly just cause adverse issues.
