Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about.
There is offline solo mode, just like L4D2.
Also, this game doesn't have dedicated server, much like Killing floor 2, you can still have functions like ammo and health working on client side.(AKA you don't need to be a host for it to work)

I guess this has changed since the 25th of September where a dev stated that you will need a persistent online connection then.

Additionally in their FAQ, they say under LAN play that all machines will require a connection to Steam.

From what I can tell all the relevant variables are stored as doubles; health starts at 1 [max] and goes down to 0 [dead]. By contrast, the bright wizard's overheat starts at 0 and goes to 40.
I tried the health thing, freeze the values and the health bar flutters but doesn't visually decrease however you still are taking damage, bots heal you and you still fall to the ground/die.
Someone also said you can modify tomes/grims to get more dice but haven't tried that yet.
