I would highly doubt they would update a retired trainer(notice the little red box and the word "RETIRED" next to the trainer) to be compatible with Windows 8.

You could always try launching a Windows 7 iso. When it asks you if you would like to install, click yes. Then after a bit, try the trainer again...

Sadly no there is some altrernitives. In using the console command mod so you can use console commands.
