I've been searching around to add a Racing game to my collection.. right now I'm tied between Project CARS/DiRT Rally/The CREW.

I don't have a steering wheel and as of now I don't really plan on expanding that direction.. I've got an old 360 controller but the years haven't been too friendly on it (Maybe if a show of hands says the controller method outweighs a keyboard/mouse I might go out and just buy one since they're cheap now).

Is this game, or any of these newer racing games without Arcade Style/Need For Speed type feels hard playing on Keyboard?

I cannot comment on using a keyboard on a racing game since I have not done that since Test Drive on my Tandy 1000tl around 1990.
I can tell you this about Project Cars. I recently picked up the game on sale and have logged 25hrs. I have a g27 wheel and I also have a standard xbox 360 controller. The game plays just fine with a controller, so don't worry about not having a wheel. I have probably logged 65% of my time with the controller since I am lazy and like to kick back in the recliner playing.
The only thing I notice is that the 360's stick seems really twitchy. Luckily they have options to adjust everything in the game. Turning down the steering sensitivity while using the controller helps a ton.

Don't know if that was the info your were looking for but I hope it helps.

That's the info I was exactly looking for, Thank you for your input.

With the Steering Wheel... Do you have it mounted to something? Like is it just free-sitting on your desk and is there also Pedals and a shifter?

I think if I were ever to invest, I would want to build some sort of makeshift mount of the finest Mahogany(Kappa)

Just the way I get into racing games I'd feel like that steering wheel would be whipped all over the place

This is Vlad's setup. If I ever hit the lottery I might do something just like he did.

Well I don't use a desk so I had to mount it to something.
Here is the wheel stand I got from Amazon. It is a little pricy, but I considered it an investment. I strapped it onto a small laptop table that has folding legs. I keep the back ones folded out so that the platform sits at an angle instead of flat on the floor, which makes it ideal for sitting back in the LazyBoy driving. The unit itself is fairly heavy so it it really stable. I use floor sliders under the four corners to slide it up to my chair.

Good memory. Things have gotten crazier since those picks were taken.
Finally replaced the size mismatched monitors with three 32" leds. Flipped the whole room longways to accomodate the 6' table to hold the sets and sit a little further back. Of course then, due to having a better acoustic layout, I had to run surround around the room. Bolting the earth shaking transducer under the captains chair was (I think) my very last upgrade. That little gizmo takes gaming to a new level.

My wife doesn't understand the need for the over-the-top gaming setup... maybe if they made CandyCrush with Force Feedback controls she'd get it.
I am just a little nuts anyway, but that just makes gaming that much more fun.
