When I built my current PC, I used a FX-8350. The idea behind an AMD build is that you can build a very apt pc and still have money for good GPU's etc. If I were building a pc today, there is no way I would spend $300 for an AMD cpu. If I were, I would spend the money on an intel based machine since it uses much less power and you can get a major cpu for $300.
While the FX-9590 is fast, it is also extremely power hungry --220w. I have my 8350 OC'd at 4.6ghz and it uses half the power as the 9550 without sacrificing too much speed. That being said, the fun of building a pc is that it is your $$ and you can pick out whatever you think works best for you.
Building the cheaper PC gave me the extra funds to try my hand at Water Cooling, but again, that is what was good and fun for me not you.
So what ever parts you decide on, I am sure they will be exactly what you wanted.
