I've tried, but conversation was a lot easier to be had back then. The GD, OTD, and popular title forums were 2-5 pages worth of constantly updating topics teaming with input (some worthwhile, a lot not) from hundreds of consistent users everyday! It used to take me an hour or two to get caught up on all the conversation from my bookmarked pages. Now days it reminds me of a rural backcountry diner. A small experienced staff cooking arguably the best food in the world, a handful of locals who've been sticking by their routine almost at rigidly as the staff, and a few hundred shy tourists bickering about asking a local for directions to nearest freeway.

Nice analagy. It all depends. People move on to new pastures. I only join in if it interests me. Also I tend to get bored quickly. But if its something that really hooks al check it each day heck several times a day. Skyheart could tell ya how I was like.
Also RL can come into play with people not coming on alot as much as they used to. I do have to admit I aint a person to bring up a fun interesting topic lol. So my last statement I reject. Shouldnt really have said that.
But I do have to say. There isint really anything Jumping out like ya know?
may have something to do with back then the only social media we had was myspace leaving ample time to talk here, now everyone has a dozen different outlets needing to be checked instead...
I barely even used Myspace back then. I think I was there for a bit then hopped onto Beebo.
