It's just anti cheating software for multiplayer games you wont be able to connect to a game online if its not installed and the server has it. Punkbuster has been around for a very very long time and is safe but I am sure it loads with windows when you turn on your computer.
You can uninstall it from add\remove programs without a problem if you only play single player.
It also will not interfere with trainers from here when your playing single player.
Also it comes with non legal copies of software and it contains a malware. Eitherway you can play online even without pb if a serrver has it. You just need to use another software like gamespy or rtonline etc...
I usually get rid of it because i dont like things running without my knowledge.

Yeah me too, I run a tight ship, i like to enhance my gameplay to the max and background apps are the worst for bleeding your system. PB doesn't seem to be causing any problems since removing as I found out from a shabby source Steam,Uplay and Origin all use a Net version of PB,thats why you cant cheat online unless your good at it lol
